Hotspots highlighting some early features of JIM

Observation Port

The observation port fitted on JIMs 2 and 3 was quickly removed and replaced by a more useful mesotech underwater communications antenna.

Breathing Tube

Prior to full (oral-nasal) face masks being fitted a less comfortable breathing tube system was in use.

Stand

The original tubular steel version of JIM’s stand was deemed not fit for purpose. It was soon to be replaced by a more robust steel box section model.

Joint Covers

Protective joint covers were initially installed. But any damage to the cover itself resulted in debris, such as sand and stones, being trapped thereby causing substantially more damage. So, they were removed completely.
